Kawasaki Heavy Industries has unveiled an innovative concept vehicle named CORLEO, a four-legged hydrogen-powered off-road personal mobility device. This futuristic machine is set to be showcased at the upcoming 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, specifically within the "Future Life Expo – Future City" exhibition.

Design and Functionality

CORLEO's design is a testament to Kawasaki's expertise in both robotics and motorcycle engineering. The vehicle features a quadrupedal structure that enhances its stability and terrain adaptability. The rear legs incorporate a swingarm mechanism, allowing independent vertical movement from the front legs. This configuration effectively absorbs shocks during movement and helps maintain the rider's posture, facilitating better navigation over challenging terrains.

Control of CORLEO is achieved through the rider's shifting body weight, akin to horseback riding. This intuitive method, combined with the machine's support systems, enables even novices to traverse difficult landscapes such as mountainous regions and water crossings safely and confidently.

Hydrogen-Powered Innovation

In alignment with global efforts toward a carbon-neutral society, CORLEO utilizes hydrogen as its primary fuel source. Hydrogen canisters are inserted into the rear legs, supplying fuel to a hydrogen engine located in the front legs, which generates electricity to power the vehicle. This design not only underscores Kawasaki's commitment to sustainable energy solutions but also offers a glimpse into the potential future of personal mobility.

Exhibition at Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025

Visitors to the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo will have the opportunity to witness CORLEO in action within the "Future Life Expo – Future City" pavilion. The exhibit will demonstrate CORLEO's dynamic poses and movements, providing insights into the future of personal mobility. Additionally, Kawasaki will present the "ALICE SYSTEM," a futuristic public transportation concept, highlighting their vision for integrated mobility solutions.

Through CORLEO, Kawasaki Heavy Industries aims to tap into the intrinsic human desire for movement and exploration, offering a harmonious blend of advanced technology and the natural world. This concept vehicle not only showcases the company's innovative prowess but also invites us to envision a future where personal mobility is more intuitive, sustainable, and adventurous.
